Making the old new, and a new guitar!

The old stratolike (Stratocaster Lookalike) guitar is starting to look pretty good.
Jacqui managed to get the old stickers off using some dark magic.  I cleaned the neck, and removed the old machine heads.  I'll keep an eye out for some new ones.

Anyway: looking good so far:

We decided to go on a bit of hunt around wellington for more bits.  We visited several guitar shops in the city and managed to find:

1) A machine head to replace the missing one.  They guy gave it to me for nothing, which was nice :)
2) A Jack cover ( the bit where the cable goes )
3) Pickup covers to brighten the old pickups.
4) A little plastic bit for the pickup selector.

I asked about a new scratch plate, but no-one had one.  One guy said he could order one, but I reckon I'll get one online. These guys specialise in guitar bits, so I guess I can get it from there.

While we were in Music Warehouse, we spotted a pretty good acoustic guitar. I hadn't intended to buy one, but jacqui said - "it'll be your birthday & christmas present for the next 3 years", so I thought, cool!.  I've been meaning to get a decent acoustic guitar for years.  So, we picked out a rather nice Takamine G Series.  I tried a few, but this one seemed to feel the nicest (from an electric player's perspective).

Pretty cool:

God it’s been ages since I wrote anything here. Well I’m still alive and now I have progeny! We have a son who is16 months old and a baby girl due in May. So, it was a fairly normal Friday afternoon.  Seemed a little windy outside, but all in all, a fairly normal work day. Wind in Wellington is as normal as sand in the Sahara. We finished up at a normalish time, sometime after 4 and went home. As we approached the house,  I clicked the button so that the handy electric garage door would open and we could drive in and park, as normal. Nothing happened. Very strange, but we've had power cuts before so I thought it was probably just something like that.  I parked outside, and we went in to investigate.  Sure enough, there was no power.  I went to the switch board : two of the trips had been.... er... tripped? Anyway, I clicked them back, and the lights came back on.  Nice one! But our joy was short lived. As we made our way into the house we noticed a few things. The security system's little control panel was blank.  It's got a battery backup, so this was surprising.  In previous power cuts, it usually flashed &qu
